Criminal Justice Coordinating Council
CJCC to review jail, Justice Point, and health reports
The Sawyer County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council will meet to receive reports on the jail, Justice Point, and health and human services, including youth justice, truancy, and mobile crisis. Sawyer County Emergency Management will hold a public open house on
Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the County Board Room
of the Sawyer County Courthouse, 10610 Main Street, Hayward, to provide
information and gather public input on the Sawyer County Hazard Mitigation Plan
Update.
The Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies natural and human-caused hazards that may
affect Sawyer County and its communities, evaluates associated risks, and
establishes strategies and actions to reduce the potential for property damage,
infrastructure impacts, and loss of life.
Questions or comments may be directed to Nicole Ripczinski, Sawyer County
Emergency Management, at nripczinski@sawyersheriff.org.
The meeting listed above is open to the public according to Wisconsin State

programs and activities as well as the two grants received; three new study pods are being installed today.

Board to discuss possible mental health funding resolution
The Sawyer County Health & Human Services Board will consider updates to its bylaws and two funding resolutions—one for mental health and one for public health. The board will also review a range of reports covering behavioral health, child and youth services, economic support, and fiscal performance. Ms. Kelsey presented a written report and updated the committee on short-staffing challenges and thanked Kristi
Kare for stepping in to clerk civil cases. A new Criminal Clerk is starting July 27th.
Sheriff’s Department Report –
Sheriff Mrotek stated that the receptionist/Sheriff’s secretary position has been filled, and that the department is
supporting LCO with a recent homicide investigation that occurred.
Patrol Report – Lt. Ripczinski reviewed the written patrol report: there were 714 calls in June, 28 traffic citations
issued and 15 crashes- 2 with injury, zero deaths.
