Adjourn Community Development Block Grant Program Overview The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is a broad, annual funding program through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Cities with a population of over 50,000 and counties with a population of over 200,000 qualify for annual funding along with all 50 states. With the new Census, Polk County is over the 200,000 threshold and now qualifies for up to $987,000 each year. Prior to 2023, Polk County was one of just 18 counties in the nation that chose not to claim our entitled CDBG funding. As of September 2023, nine cities plus unincorporated Polk County are participating entities in the Polk County CDBG program. They include: • Altoona • Bondurant • Clive • Grimes • Johnston • Pleasant Hill • Polk City • Urbandale • Windsor Heights The CDBG program is known for being versatile in its eligible activities.
