Summary
The meeting was called to order at 6:02pm by President James McBride.
Cultural District Designation: Dr. Williams was not present. Her presentation was moved to the
retreat on July 11, 2026.
Approval of Meeting Minutes:
The board discussed the approval of the meeting minutes . The board motioned to accept the
minutes. June 1, 2026, minutes were approved. P. Spooner made a motion to approve the minutes,
and P. Hunter seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously 5-0.
Budget Report:
J. White presented the budget, reporting an account balance of $2,617.60. He noted in a memo that
the AAPI Festival had a profit of $62.78.
• Procurement and Budget Challenges: The team discusses ongoing difficulties with the
current fiscal year's project funding, noting that the procurement process is significantly
delayed. Staff explained that they are in constant communication with the procurement
department to expedite requests. Staff notes that they are trying to submit requisitions
before the end of the year to ensure funding rolls over.
• Fiscal Year Budget Planning : The board discussed the necessity of submitting budget
requests to the city council much earlier, as they have experienced repeated project funding
