Housing Solutions Committee
Committee recommends $1M grant for Francis Ridge senior apartments
The Housing Solutions Committee reviewed a request from Peninsula Housing Authority for $1,000,000 from the Affordable Housing Sales and Use Tax Fund to support the Francis Ridge Senior Apartment Complex. The committee also discussed the county's affordable housing funding gap, which is estimated at $8.9 million annually, and analyzed the federal 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act. The committee voted to recommend the grant allocation to the Board of County Commissioners, contingent on the developer securing additional funding by January 31, 2028.
- Recommendation to allocate $1,000,000 from the Affordable Housing Sales and Use Tax Fund (1406/1590) to Peninsula Housing Authority for the Francis Ridge Senior Apartment Complex.
- Review of the Comp Plan Housing Element Technical Analysis, which identifies an annual affordable housing funding shortfall of $8,918,694.
- Discussion of the federal 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act (H.R. 6644), including provisions for disaster recovery funding and HOME program expansions.
- Update on Affordable Sales and Use Tax funds, noting approximately $800,000 remains available after previous allocations.
