Town Council to adopt updated ADU regulations to align with state law
The Woodside Town Council will vote on the second reading and adoption of an ordinance updating accessory dwelling unit (ADU) regulations to provide more flexibility and comply with state law. The consent calendar includes approval of plans and a $250,000 budget for the Alta Vista Alley Storm Drainage Improvements Project. Public hearings are scheduled for a final map for a seven-lot subdivision at 1101 Cañada Road and a proposal to abandon a conservation easement at 1 Montelena Court, though the latter two items will be continued to the September 8 meeting.

Andres Gonzales of Parametrix consultants made presentation.
Tim Teater, 572 Eleanor stated a need for a speed hump between the Northgate/Eleanor
intersection and Hillside.
He also stated a traffic circle at the N/E intersection would make a left turn from
Northgate to Eleanor difficult. He suggested a 15 mph limit.
Greg Smith, 155 Eleanor stated a need for a sp eed bump, on Eleanor, at the bottom of
the hill near hillside. He also suggested a lower speed limit . He suggested deferring any
widening, particularly if trees would be lost.
Patch McGovern of the Woodside Heights HOA loved the report. He said we need to stop
speeding and stop sign running. Homeowners have expressed the desire to do something
by a margin of 90 to one. Many residents are concerned and surprised that no one has
died.

Approve Minutes: May 14, 2026 – Moved and approved.
Old Business:
1. Review First Friday June event: Concern over low audience attendance due to
local area’s graduations. Tom sent June presenter Jim Caldwell a thank you letter
and explanation for the small audience. Discussion on additional ways to promote
attendance: a) encourage presenter to send PR to their own audiences; b) create
a boilerplate PR sheet for producer and presenter; c) keep the number of
postcards printed monthly at 150. Lisa and Kit will work on a banner for public
awareness of each coming First Friday event. Further discussion about banner
and its location at next monthly meeting.
2. Sign-ups for July event: Corner Laughers: Sheet passed around.
3. Review Calendar: Kit will get more information from Don Di Franco for “more
about Mrs. Roth”. New suggestions to be pursued: How Silicon Valley came to be
(Bruce); Yaeger- song and WWII and mother (Tom); String Quartet and
