recent change made by the Minnesota DNR to remove the shotgun only restriction from
the metro county deer permit area, which includes the City of Afton. Ms. Wroblewski noted
she was speaking for herself, not on behalf of the city council. Ms. Wroblewski requested
that the Washington County Board grant authority to the City of Afton, as a municipality
in the county, to hold a public hearing and vote to make the decision to prohibit rifles for
deer hunting in the city, keeping it shotgun only if the majority of the council votes to do
so.
