Roll call: Emily Fine (remote), Salina Thomas (remote), Mike Potsaid, Valerie Goodrich. Guests: Veronica Kell, Shlomiya Lightfoot. 1.2 It was announced that the meeting was being recorded and would be uploaded to YouTube. No one else was recording. 1.3 There were no unanticipated topics. 1.4MP moved to approve the minutes of the July 9, 2026 meeting. VG seconded. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. ll. Meeting Business 2.1 Discussion of controlled burns as a tool for habitat management. Shlomiya Lightfoot of the Indigenous Landscape Initiative explained the use of fire to improve habitat. She referenced a study that showed fire’s benefits to Blandings turtles. Safety for nearby neighborhoods was explained. EF moved that the possibility of using controlled burns be added to the habitat management plan. VG seconded. Motion passed unanimously by roll call vote. ST will have that added to the habitat management plan and forward the plan to Misty-Anne of F&W for her review. 2.2 CR status update: The draft CR document was supposed to go to town counsel on July 1. The sign is 2’7” tall by 4’ wide. My proposed sign and post are wood painted a blackened green with gold serifed text and a floral design. The proposed sign is slightly taller and slimmer, but is generally the same size. There’s a bit more breathing room between the sign and the post in the proposed design. The bottom of the sign will sit up to a foot lower than the current positioning. This adjusted size and spacing is more visually appealing and historically appropriate (1850s). Roger will do a walk thorough with The Forester in the area of Hillside where the cemetery will be creating a natural burial site for cremation and possibly green burials.
