changes asked by the Legislative committee.

The committee had an in-depth discussion. The board office is to look if any other counties
have an AI policy in place to bring examples to the next meeting as well as the draft AI policy
provided by Josh (IT) previously.
New Business
The committee had in-depth an discussion about the affirmative action policy. The county board
office will provide the changes asked for and send them to the IFMK attorney and bring the
requested sample forms for the committee to review.

Peterson discussed the following:
Greater Egypt Regional Planning and Development Commission.
The Greater Egypt Executive Committee met Tuesday, July 21, 2026. The Committee
reviewed grants and contracts by that Executive Director, and approved the June 2026 Staff
Report, FY 27 Budget Adjustments. The committee discussed the annual awards so that
members would be able to have their nominees submitted in a timely fashion. Upcoming grants
Greater Egypt can assist with include: DRA infrastructure, Hazard and flood mitigation
assistance, ITEP, IDOT Economic Development Program, USDA grants, and EDA grants. The
next full board meeting will be held on August 11, 2026, at 6:00 at the Marion office. Higby
Barrett presented the results of their year-long study for the Jackson-Union Port Board at an
open meeting at SIU. The presenter explained the value of public ports and the benefits for the
local economy. The details included what locations might be suitable for a new port, the cost to
build and the time frame …

Schafer Updated the Board on the Ambulance Department, including a conversation about the
new vehicle repair lift being fully functional. Funding for this device was donated by Averon

future; 37 students completed CPR classes. Chief Mark Kuhns attended the quarterly meeting

Beckman asked the Jackson County Administrator to bring all available bank statements to the August meeting for
review.

Cissell discussed submitting a proposal for IDOT Grants on behalf of the Port District for Foreign Trade Zone. The
Jackson County Administrator asked for Cissell to please provide a copy of that document for Port Records. Cissell also
commented that she would send out information regarding the IDOT Planning Conference scheduled for September
2nd-4th.
Higby and Barrett provided a brief presentation on a recent Port District study. The Port members had a brief
conversation regarding this presentation.

Greater Egypt
The Greater Egypt Executive Committee met on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026. The commission members
approved the fiscal year 2027 budget and the cost of the local share will remain unchanged for 2027. The
members discussed possible management and operational services for Redco because their administrator
resigned. We also reviewed open grant opportunities and I encourage everyone to take a look at their staff
report. These include DRA, CIF, ERA, EGA and USDA special assistance for rural communities. Many of
these have to do with infrastructure, water systems, and sewer systems.
