Jackson County Board of Review signs property tax stipulations totaling over $899,000; County Board set to weigh water utility resolution

The Jackson County Board of Review signed settlement stipulations for three property tax dockets totaling $899,194 at its July 28 meeting, the largest single dollar figure among recent county actions. The board also approved a new batch of Certificates of Error correcting property tax assessment records.

Board of Review signs stipulations, certifies errors

At the July 28 meeting, the Board of Review approved Certificates of Error #25-000057 through #25-00067 and signed stipulations for three dockets: 2025-04691 ($17,998), 2025-04699 ($789,921), and 2025-04237 ($92,275). Board members also discussed a specific parcel following an email from a taxpayer.

A week earlier, on July 22, the Board of Review approved Certificates of Error #25-00044 through #25-00056, excluding #51, which was voided because the taxpayer had received an exemption on another parcel. The board directed that stipulations to settle 2025 Property Tax Appeal Board (PTAB) cases be sent to attorneys and that a spreadsheet be created for PTAB hearings scheduled for September 2026.

Certificates of Error are used to correct mistakes in property tax assessments. The stipulations represent agreed settlements in property tax appeal cases.

County Board agenda includes water utility resolution, claim payments

The Jackson County Board met July 21, but minutes have not yet been published, so it is not confirmed which items were decided. The agenda listed Resolution 2026-46 opposing the privatization of public water utilities, along with several high-dollar claim payments: Ambulance Monthly Claims for $571,180.16, County Monthly Claims for $533,211.92, and a HOPE Trust Medical Administration Claim for $375,487.00. Jackson County committees approve $542,000 in insurance payments, ADA courthouse upgrades, and water privatization resolution

Jackson County's Finance Administration Committee approved more than $542,000 in HOPE Trust insurance payments and directed surplus funds toward making courthouse entrances ADA-compliant during its July 13 meeting, according to official minutes.

The committee unanimously approved three insurance-related payments: HOPE Trust Dental Vision Claims of $18,222.77, HOPE Trust Medical Administration payment of $375,487.00, and On-Demand Claims of $148,608.06. It also unanimously approved the use of surplus funds for ADA Compliance of Courthouse Entrances. Board Member Travel Expenses were deferred to the Full Board due to a noted error. June 8, 2026, meeting minutes were approved unanimously.

Executive Committee appointments
