Ogden adopts O-1 zoning changes; public hearing set for park expansion rezone

The Ogden City Council adopted Ordinance 2026-16 at its Aug. 18 meeting, making technical changes to the O-1 (Open Space) zone's building setback and fence height standards. The ordinance, which also revises the municipal code index, takes effect immediately. Separately, the council has scheduled a public hearing for Sept. 1 on a proposed rezone of three properties for park expansion.

Zoning amendment adopted

Ordinance 2026-16 amends subsections 15-4-5.H, 15-13-7.C, and 15-14-4.C of the Ogden Municipal Code. The changes are technical and include an index revision. The ordinance was adopted at the Aug. 18 City Council meeting and is effective immediately upon posting. No vote tally was provided in the meeting record. Other recent meetings

The City Council, also acting as the Redevelopment Agency, held a work session on Aug. 11 to discuss a proposed land transfer and development agreement for the U.S. Forest Service Building, a proposed rezone of 497 Grant Avenue, 605 Grant Avenue, and 253 4th Street, and a fiscal year 2026 fraud risk assessment review. No votes were taken; the meeting was an agenda item only.

The Ogden City Arts Advisory Committee met Aug. 11 to vote on Mayor's Awards honorees and receive updates on public art projects, including the Olympic Mural and Kiesel Avenue Cable Project. Ogden Roundup: City Seeks $1.5M for Bonneville Park, Council Eyes $700K Park Property Transfer

Ogden officials moved on several land-use and budget items in recent meetings, with the most notable action being the city's formal notice of intent to request $1.5 million in federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for improvements at Bonneville Park. The public comment period on that request remains open until August 10, 2026.

Bonneville Park Grant Request

On July 22, 2026, the City Recorder published notice that Ogden intends to request $1,500,000 in CDBG funds for the Bonneville Park Improvements FY27 project at 220 Monroe Boulevard. The city issued a Finding of No Significant Impact regarding the project's effect on the human environment. Residents can submit public comment through August 10, 2026. City Council to Fill At-Large Seat C Vacancy
