Hillsborough Council Agendas Include Town Hall Review, Possible Appointment to Avoid Election

Special meeting on council appointments (Aug. 20)

The council held a special meeting to consider appointing Jeff Baxter and Leslie Marden Ragsdale to two City Council seats rather than holding the November 3, 2026 election. Only two candidates filed nomination papers, so the council may either appoint them or proceed with the election, which would cost $43,000–$51,000 and allow write-in candidates.
