Chelan City Council accepts $418,000 FAA grant for airport master plan update

The Chelan City Council accepted a $418,000 Federal Aviation Administration grant to update the Lake Chelan Airport Master Plan, the most consequential decision from recent local government meetings. The council also approved routine payments and joined a purchasing cooperative. Other bodies met on procedural matters, and one advisory board advanced a fee policy to the council.

City Council

At its August 11 meeting, the council voted 7-0 to approve the consent agenda, which included payroll of $546,558.67 and accounts payable of $494,435.65, along with minutes from prior meetings. The council also authorized the City Administrator to accept the $418,000 FAA grant for the airport master plan update, and adopted Resolution 2026-1486 to join the TIPS purchasing cooperative. No public hearings were held, and no other substantive decisions were made.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met August 20 and approved minutes from five prior meetings (May 5, May 21, June 1, June 18, and July 16) by a 4-0 vote. The board recommended the updated Athletic Field Use and Fees Policy be presented to the City Council; no vote was recorded on that recommendation. Members also discussed the 2027 budget, including a draft six-year capital improvement plan and rates and fees, and received updates on Chelan Gorge Park, the golf course, and interpretive signage. Board member Todd Higley announced his resignation. No other formal decisions were made.

Lake Chelan Sewer District

The Lake Chelan Sewer District held a regular meeting on August 19. The agenda was largely procedural, with items to approve the July 15, 2026 meeting minutes, August 19 accounts payable checks and EFTs, and August 19 payroll checks and EFTs. A finance report update from Finance Director Evans was also scheduled. Minutes from this meeting have not yet been published, so no decisions are confirmed.

Lake Chelan Sewer District approves services addendum and $74,099.90 in accounts payable

The Lake Chelan Sewer District Board adopted an Additional Services Addendum to its Master Service Agreement and approved $74,099.90 in accounts payable at its July 15 meeting, the only local body with finalized minutes from the past two weeks.

The board passed the Additional Services Addendum to the Master Service Agreement on a 2–0 vote. Members also approved meeting minutes from April 15, May 20, and June 17, 2026.

The board approved June 17 accounts payable checks No. 2123101 and 213104 totaling $74,099.90, along with payroll checks totaling $414.00. The finance director reported that the district's finances remain on track despite a county system outage. The meeting adjourned on a 2–0 vote.

City Council

The City Council met July 14, but minutes have not yet been published. The agenda included votes on two grant-related resolutions: Resolution No. 2026-1483 for a Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) grant application and Resolution No. 2026-1484 for a Washington State Military Department Public Assistance Grant Agreement.

Also on the agenda were a pilot program for outdoor seating, the 2026 Comprehensive Plan Update covering Chapter 1 Overview & Vision and Chapter 2 Land Use, and acceptance of the 2027 budget calendar. Because minutes are not yet available, it is not confirmed which items were decided.

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission met July 15, with minutes not yet published. The agenda called for approval of the June 17, 2026 minutes and public hearings on two chapters of the 2026 Comprehensive Plan: Chapter 3 Subarea Plans and Chapter 4 Housing. An administrative work session was scheduled to discuss the draft Sign Code dated July 10, 2026.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Board

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board met July 16, with minutes not yet published. The agenda listed the Athletic Facility Use & Fees Policy and a discussion with the Chelan Gorge Park User Group as old business. A proclamation for Parks and Recreation Month was listed under new business. The agenda also included citizen comments, staff updates, and board comments.
