Village Board weighs church permit, truck purchase

The Village Board met Aug. 18 to consider a special use permit for The Bridge Church at 2210 and 2220-2230 Lake Cook Road. The board also reviewed an agreement with USSI for a new street department bucket truck at a cost of $315,000, and an agreement with Patriot Pavement Maintenance for the 2026 crack seal program at $49,500. Committee reviews $287,696 network upgrade

Also on Aug. 18, the Committee of the Whole considered a $287,696 purchase from Data Center Warehouse for a network infrastructure and phone system upgrade. The project, advanced from FY28 to FY27, includes 9 firewalls, 20 Wi-Fi access points, 38 network switches, and 108 desk phones. Funding is split among the General Fund ($188,163.15), Water Operating Fund ($36,095.03), and Sewer Operating Fund ($63,437.82). The purchase would be made through TIPS Contract #240101, a cooperative purchasing contract. Staff recommended forwarding the item for Village Board approval.

Earlier committee agenda

At an Aug. 11 Committee of the Whole meeting, members reviewed the same church special use permit, along with zoning code amendments to Sections 21.8 (Home Occupations) and 21.16 (Off-Street Parking and Loading). The agenda also included agreements for the 2026 crack seal program, a new bucket truck, fire hydrant painting, sanitary sewer flow monitoring, a bikeway gap plan, a wetland restoration project, and a school resource officer memorandum of understanding with School District 300.
