The Historic Preservation Commission approved its agenda and the minutes from the March 2026 meeting by common consent. City Commission

The City Commission will review an ordinance to close portions of East 19th and 20th streets. The meeting also includes a proposed amendment to the Downtown Public Consumption Ordinance.

The Rome City Commission approved an ordinance amendment expanding downtown public alcohol consumption from Thursday-Saturday to seven days a week and adding portions of West 1st, West 2nd, and West 8th Avenue, including the Hampton Inn and Days Inn. The vote was 5-3, with Commissioners Robinson, Beeman, and McDaniel opposed. The commission also approved a street closing ordinance for the East 19th and 20th Street area (6-2) and made several committee appointments unanimously.

The committee reviewed four preliminary 2026 tax millage rate scenarios and the impact on City M&O, City Capital, and School M&O rates.
