Minutes: Brat enahl Shade Tree Commission Meeting – March 16, 2026 Attendance: Jim Leslie, Ava Peterson, Jennifer Goodall, Michael O ’Conn or 1. Call to Order  Meeting called to order at 5:30 PM. 2. Approval of Minutes  January minutes deferred due to lack of quorum 3 . New Business Interim Activities  Designated Tree City USA (12th year).  Preserve land inspection scheduled (April 30) with Pete McDonald, Western Reserve Land Conservancy .  Village-wide tree survey planned with Jason Knowles, contracted urban forester.  Key maintenance priorities: o Replace Austrian pines (disease concerns) , long term priority o Treat crabapples (scab) , springtime/early summer o Mulching of Eddie Rd. median (cost savings via service dept.). Commission Membership  Joyce to remain on commission; secretary role open for future discussion. Spring Activities  Village tree inspection – to be scheduled  Memorial Day: continue seed packet distribution; consider tree photo opportunity. 4. Old Business Corner Garden Initiative (Michael O ’Connor)  Proposal to redesign 13 corner gardens for improved aesthetics and sustainability.  Goals: o Coordinated design (visual consistency, seasonal interest).  Team formation: o Target: ~5 – 6 members with diverse skills. o Outreach to selected individuals + optional public notice for interest.  Budget: o Likely significant; phased approach ( ≈ 3 years). o External funding (community foundation, grants) to be pursued.  Implementation considerations …
