Agricultural/PDR Commission

The commission is meeting to elect officers and establish its 2023 meeting calendar and work plan. Members will receive updates on PDR program funding and a new Land Conservation Specialist position. The body will also consider a farmers market application for Long Family Market.

Diversity Advisory Coalition

The Diversity Advisory Coalition is meeting to review the status of two recommendation proposals sent to the Board of Supervisors. The group will also discuss a request for funds for a regional Juneteenth 2023 celebration submitted by ENOUGH LLC and G3 Community Services.

The coalition tabled the status of Recommendations 1 and 2 pending a response from the Board of Supervisors. Members discussed a funding request for a regional Juneteenth 2023 celebration and determined the DAC lacks authority to approve or recommend such funding.

The Legislative Committee is meeting to receive an update on the legislative program. The agenda consists of a single update item.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission

The Commission recommended charging non-residents of Stafford and the City of Fredericksburg for parking at the Historic Port of Falmouth on weekends and holidays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. They also recommended deferring fees at Aquia Landing and using collected funds for safety, river education, and site improvements.

Board of Supervisors

The Board of Supervisors will discuss amending the Capital Improvement Program to accelerate Elementary School #18 and postpone the Hartwood Elementary rebuild. Members will also consider zoning changes for solar facilities and various conditional use permits for commercial projects.

The Board approved a conditional use permit and proffer amendment for a new Chick-Fil-A restaurant. It also voted to prioritize the construction of Elementary School #18 over the Hartwood Elementary School rebuild. Several other land-use requests for storage and mulch facilities were deferred.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Zoning Ordinance Repeal and Replace is conducting an initial review of a zoning ordinance rewrite. The body will examine definitions, permit processes, and state code conflicts.

Historical Commission
