#26-10
Request for Determination of Applicability (RDA), 297 Paine Rd, Scott & Julie Cormier,
RDA #26-10. The applicant proposes to remove an existing wooden deck and build a
smaller replacement deck with an 8’×12’ three-season room on part of it. The work occurs
within the Riverfront Area to Bordering Vegetated Wetland Buffer Zone. The Chair, Kimberly
Ciaramicoli, read the legal notice into the record.
Mr. Cormier presented a proposal to remove the existing 22-year-old wooden deck and
construct a smaller replacement deck with an attached 8×12 three-season room. The project
includes relocating the stairs and converting part of the existing deck area into enclosed space.
All work occurs within the riverfront area and wetland buffer zone, approximately 9 to 10 feet
from the perennial riverbank.
The applicant explained that the deck footprint will remain largely the same, though the stairs
will shift location. Some existing footings will be reused; however, new footings will be needed
for the relocated stairs. All new footings will be hand-dug to a depth of approximately four feet,
the soil should allow for easier excavation.
