Lake County considers temporary moratorium on new data centers
The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will hold the first public hearing on a proposed temporary moratorium on the construction or expansion of data center facilities in unincorporated areas. Commissioners to set maximum millage rates for 2026 tax notices
The Board will set the maximum property tax millage rates for the Truth in Millage (TRIM) notices and schedule public hearings on September 8 and 22. They will also hear a presentation on data centers ahead of a proposed moratorium, and consider ordinances on recovery residences and landscape buffers. The commissioners will vote on a series of consent agenda items, including certifications of non‑ad valorem assessment rolls and several infrastructure contracts. They will adopt assessment resolutions for solid waste, fire, and municipal service benefit units, each setting fees for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026.
