Jeff discussed the progress of the following items: Jeff reported Knox County Water and Wastewater has had nearly 30 water lines, sewer lines, and manholes damaged in Apple Valley as a result of work being done by Mercury Broadband and its contracted digging company to lay fiber. As a result of these damages, Water and Wastewater have been unable to make progress on other projects, and has required significant overtime and weekend hours for staff. Jeff reported that they are now requiring weekly meetings with Mercury Broadband but does not believe they are seeing much improvement as a result. They answered questions and discussed the following items: Craig began by providing a brief history of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, explaining how it was established in 1913, and how it has grown over the years into what it is today. Craig reported the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District's primary mission is flood mitigation, conservation, and recreation. As part of its flood mitigation efforts, the District's reservoirs are designed to hold an average of approximately 68 billion gallons of water and can store nearly twice that amount during periods of heavy rainfall and flooding. Communications Coordinator 10:00 AM Departmental Update - Knox County Sheriff Commissioners met with Sheriff Dan Weckesser and Jail Administrator James Crawford in a regular departmental update. Both answered questions from the Commissioners and discussed the following items from his report: Jail Population: 86 total - 76 males and 10 females All inmates who were being housed at the Coshocton County Jail have been brought back to the Knox County Jail. Sheriff Weckesser reported Ally Miller and Brandon Feeney completed their five weeks of new K-9 handler training at Storm Dog Tactical. Both handlers and their K-9 partners, Oden and Bella, passed certification and are assigned to the Patrol Division, along with Rich Wise and his K-9 partner, for a total of three Knox County K-9 Units, with the goal of adding a fourth K-9 unit in the future. Commissioner Pursel asked if the three K-9 units are on different shifts.
