June 17, 2026, Meeting of the Hinsdale Lake Management
Committee
Town of Hinsdale, MA
In-person Meeting at the Town Hall Community Room with
remote access via Zoom.
Members Present at Town Hall: Monica Montferret (MM),
Duane Bruce (DB), Andy Hagadorn (AH), Brian D’Orio (BD),
Cynthia Grippaldi (CG), Heather Lee (HL), Matt Goggin (MG)
Members Present via Zoom: none
Public present at the Town Hall or on Zoom will be identified by
name if they address the committee.
MM opened the meeting at 6:35pm.
Solitude Lake Management: Treatment plans were complicated
by Solitude not providing us with much lead time to prepare.
The representatives from Camp Emerson and Camp Taconic
agreed that it would be helpful if they knew by May 1 the
treatment date. Plunkett had minimal amounts of milfoil;
Ashmere had more. The Conservation Commission has
authorized cutting lily pads above the roots. To use mats to
eliminate aquatic growth will require completing a NOI.
Zebra Mussels are spreading in the Berkshires; the biggest risk
is transportation via boats used in multiple lakes. The risk level
at Plunkett has decreased due to lower calcium levels.
MM reminded everyone to be aware of the new boating
regulations generated by the Hanson-Malone Act.
Upcoming community events include a July 4 boat parade at
Ashmere, and possibly a water safety event at the Plunkett
beach.
DB asked Tony, the director of Camp Emerson, if Emerson and
Romaca had worked out a ski boat schedule. …
