Public Patrick Otton was present to speak to the Select Board about Harwich’s unprotected natural resource lands, which are essential for clean water, open space, coastal resilience, and habitat and are under intense development pressure. He asked whether the Select Board is familiar with the Cape Cod Commission’s regional plan and where Harwich falls within it. Mr. Otton discussed the possibility of placing conservation restrictions on Town-owned land rather than selling it. He noted that the Cape Cod Commission is currently running an online survey to gather public input for the new Cape Cod Regional Open Space Plan and encouraged residents to take it.
