(SuperSAC) and introduced Mr. Mark Paz, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools. Mr. Paz then
shared an overview of the topics that the students would be presenting, which included: Student Council
State Conference, Teacher/Student Relationships, Texas House Bill 1481, and Destination District
Redesign (DDR) support efforts.
The first group provided information on the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) State
Conference, hosted by Burges and Coronado High Schools. They shared that the State Conference allowed
students, during their presentations, to emphasize the importance of mental health. Additionally, they
discussed the significance of student participation at the conference and the acquired knowledge and
experiences gained through their attendance.

The Board reviewed the process and questions to be utilized during the interview process. Trustees
welcomed individual applicants and took turns asking questions of each of the applicants. The first
candidate interviewed was Dr. Aaron Waggoner, followed by Dr. Jack Loveridge, and then by Mr.
Rene Vargas. Upon completion of the three individual interviews, the applicants departed the room
for the Board to deliberate. Trustees took opportunities to thank the applicants and staff for
assistance in the process.
A roll-call vote was taken and the Board unanimously appointed Dr. Jack Loveridge for the position

1. Presentation and Discussion of Internal Audit Activity Report for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 – Quarter 1
Mayra Martinez, Chief Internal Auditor (CIA), informed the Board members and Superintendent that the
presentation summarizes the detailed Internal Audit Activity Report provided to all Board members as an
item on the November regular Board meeting agenda. The Internal Audit Activity Report covers the period
of July 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024. The Activity Report and presentation provide the status of the
current year’s Audit Plan and the status of corrective action plans (CAP).
The Audit Plan, approved by the Board in April 2024, included 18 planned engagements. Since the beginning
of the fiscal year, four engagements have been added during quarter 1, 1 bringing the total number of
