Issued Pursuant to Monte Vista
Municipal Code § 8-7-110 (Emergency Fire Bans)
AUTHORITY
Pursuant to the authority granted to the Chief of Police under Monte Vista Municipal Code § 8-7-110, as
adopted by Ordinance No. 886, I hereby determine that current weather conditions, prolonged drought, critically
dry vegetation, and elevated wildfire danger create an imminent threat to the public health, safety, welfare, and
property of the citizens of the City of Monte Vista.
FINDINGS
In making this determination, I have considered competent evidence, including:
e The Rio Grande County Sheriff's Stage 1 Fire Restrictions effective June 18, 2026;
« Current and forecasted weather conditions for the San Luis Valley;
¢ Critically dry vegetation and fuel conditions throughout the region;
«The increased likelihood that any ignition source may rapidly develop into a wildfire threatening lives,
homes, businesses, agricultural property, and critical infrastructure;
* Coordination with local, county, state, and federal public safety partners regarding current fire
conditions.
Based upon these findings, I conclude that immediate action is necessary to reduce the risk of wildfire within
the City of Monte Vista.

Subject: Emergency Fire Ban and Reminder to Residents of Fireworks Prohibitions
MONTE VISTA, Colo. – Due to the current extreme fire danger affecting the San Luis Valley, the Monte
Vista Police Department announces that, pursuant to Monte Vista Municipal Code § 8-7-110, the Chief of
Police has issued an Emergency Fire Ban within the City of Monte Vista.
This action is being taken in conjunction with the Rio Grande County Sheriff's Stage 1 Fire Restrictions,
following an evaluation of current weather conditions, critically dry vegetation, and the significant risk that
even a single spark could rapidly develop into a destructive wildfire.
Protecting our community, our homes, our agricultural resources, our businesses, and our first responders
remains our highest priority.
The Emergency Fire Ban prohibits outdoor open fires and reinforces the City's existing prohibitions regarding
the unlawful use of fireworks, except where specifically authorized by permit or City ordinance.
The Monte Vista Police Department will actively enforce the Emergency Fire Ban and the City's fireworks

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MONTE VIISTA UPDATING FEES SCHEDULE FOR
THE CITY OF MONTE VISTA
WHEREAS, the previsions states that Fee Schedule may be revised by City Council at its
direction, and establish fees as needed, and;
WHEREAS, the City of Monte Vista staff has reviewed and recommended an increase,
decrease and new established assessment of costs associated with the increase in
administrative costs in the operation of the City of Monte Vista:
WHEREAS, by the City Council of the City of Monte Vista, 2026 Fee Schedule shall be
hence forth established and applied as set forth in EXIBIT A; These changes shall remain in
force and effect until amended by Resolution of the City Council.
WHEREAS, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Monte Vista, Colorado, that the
attached 2026 Revised Fee Schedule, attached hereto and marked as EXHIBIT A.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the attached City of Monte Vista Fee
Schedule has been completed and City Council hereby approves and formally recognized
some fee increases and some fee decreases as set forth in this resolution:
