VARIANCE REQUEST FOR HOSPITAL PROPERTY:
Bill Gross presented a brief proposal for the property of 2449 Third Street. If permitted the
hospital will be repurposed into Workforce Housing.
JOSEPH ZANDERS MEMORIAL SIGN:
Joseph Zanders Memorial Sign will be located at the intersection of US1 and Garden Street.
VAC TRUCK PROPOSALS:
Mr. Lloyd stated the 1999-2000 model sewer vacuum truck needs to be replaced. Bids are being
taken and a vote will be taken at a Regular Meeting. Mr. Lloyd informed the Council that the
Garbage Truck shut down at the landfill and had to be towed. The city is in the process of finding
a truck to rent until Garbage Truck is repaired.
GEFA GRANTS INFORMATION:
Mr. Lloyd informed the Council that Folkston has been included as a recipient for GEFA Helene
Resilience Funding to protect wastewater and water systems in the event of major storms,

Present from the City of Folkston was Mayor Lee Gowen, Councilmembers; Bruce Young, Marion Davis, Rick
Carter and Rob Roberson, City Manager Pender Lloyd and Deputy City Clerk Leta Carter.
Present from the City of Homeland was Mayor LC Guinn, Councilmembers; Lee Waterfield, Delbert Shelton and
Brian Lloyd, City Clerk Nikki Johnson.
Present from the Board of Commissioners was Chairwoman Alphya Benefield, Commissioners; James Everett
and Jesse Crews, County Administrator Becky Harden, County Attorney Joe East and County Clerk Madeline
Nettles.
The meeting was called to order at 1:31 PM.
Chairwoman Benefield presided over the meeting. County Clerk Nettles was the speaker of the agenda.

back to Recreation’s allotted portion.

$50,000 from the County’s Administration allotment, and reallocating to the County’s Recreation Allotment.
Commissioner Crews agreed to the recommended changes.

_ Mayor Lee Gowen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. He gave the invocation and led the pledge of

Before the meeting Mayor, Lee Gowen, Council Members, Ruby Baker and Bruce Young were sworn into office
by City Attorney, Patrick Brooks.
The Mayor and Council of the City of Folkston met in regular session on January 12, 2026 at City Hall.
Mayor Lee Gowen called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. He gave the invocation and led the pledge of
