✓ Decided: Bloomer Park Board reviews Willis Park bandshell idea, North Park camping, and food truck rules

The Park Board heard a presentation on proposed Willis Park improvements, including cleaning out the existing covered building, removing the old fire whistle tower, and laying out the park for use as a bandshell, inspired by a nature-based music venue in Riverfalls, WI. Members generally thought it was a good idea the group or City could support, but said more work is needed on costs and timeline. The board also discussed camping at North Park for potential revenue; minutes note the board voted unanimously against North Park camping about 10 years ago, and more work is needed on implications, costs, and management. Food trucks and vendors at parks were discussed favorably, and John Kiecker asked Brady or Sandi to review the ordinance and determine the easiest way to allow and manage them. No motions, votes, or approvals were recorded at this meeting.

Meeting was called to order my Brady Jenneman. John Kiecker gave a power point presentation on improvements at Willis Park. Willis Park has not had any significant capital expenditure in recent history. The improvements included cleaning out the existing covered building, removing the old fire whistle tower and laying out park to be used as bandshell. The city of Riverfalls, WI was used as the inspiration for a nature- based music venue. The pro’s and con’s were discussed. It was generally thought of as a good idea and one that the group/City could support. More work will need to be done to better understand the costs and project timeline. The concept of camping at North Park was discussed. The idea is that revenue from camping could be allocated to the Park Board budget. Pros and cons were discussed. This was brought up about 10 years ago and the Park Board moved unanimously to not support camping at North Park at that time. At the request of Brady J, the packet that was put together at that time was turned into City Hall by John Kiecker for reference. More work will need to be completed to better understand the implications, costs and management structure. There was discussion on getting food trucks or other vendors to be able to be allowed at the parks. The group thought in ge …
