Worcester County Commissioners set FY27 fees, approve contracts, and weigh in on fire-training overspend

The Worcester County Commissioners approved the FY27 facility fee schedule unanimously and cleared several contracts and budget items across two meetings last week, while a fire-training center over-expenditure drew split votes on back-to-back days.

FY27 fees and contracts approved July 15

On July 15, the commission voted 7-0 to adopt the FY27 facility fee schedule and to approve an ESRI contract. A utility-scale solar consultation request also passed 7-0, as did an amended Rezoning Case No. 444 and the FY27 West OC EMS budget over-expenditure.

The commission approved the award of a Toro Infield Pro 5040 on a 6-1 vote.

Two budget items drew narrower support. A fire-training center over-expenditure was authorized 2-1, and a separate FY27 over-expenditure measure passed 4-3.

CDBG waiver approved, Open Space rejected July 16

The following day, July 16, the commission approved a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) waiver request on a 3-1 vote. The FY27 Open Space program was rejected 2-5.

Minutes from the June 16 meeting were approved 5-1.

The fire-training center overspend returned for a second vote. A first motion was denied 2-5, and a later motion on the same topic was approved 5-2.

July 6 meeting: minutes not yet published

The commissioners held a July 6 session that included a public hearing on Rezoning Case No. 452 and a discussion of the Northern Worcester Master Plan.
