Vienna meetings: rezoning, police vehicles, and utility projects on agendas

City Council (Aug. 13)

The Vienna City Council held public hearings and second readings on two ordinances to rezone portions of the WVUP Innovation and Technology Center. The council also considered a bid recommendation for two police interceptor utility AWD vehicles at a total cost of $90,506 from Stephens Auto, and a 2026/2027 General Budget Revision #1 that adds $24,999 for a shared UTV. A resolution to purchase road salt for street deicing was also on the agenda.

Budget & Finance Committee (Aug. 4)

The Budget & Finance Committee met to consider the same police vehicle purchase and budget revision that later appeared on the council agenda. The committee also received a report on the city’s Policemen’s Pension and Relief Fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026. The report showed fund assets of $16.5 million, a net increase of $2.27 million over the year.

Utility Board (Aug. 12)

The Vienna Utility Board met to consider approving a bid for the Pond Run dredging project. The board also received updates on water quality testing, including June 2026 PFAS monitoring results from Chemours. Progress reports were presented on wastewater system improvements (Phase 1), water system improvements (Phase 1), and 28th Street storm improvements (Phase 1). A presentation on the MS4 stormwater management plan was also given.
