Victoria County approves Inez gateway, $3M in hospital payments
The Victoria County Commissioners Court on Aug. 10 approved a gateway monument agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for Inez, Texas, and authorized more than $1.6 million in accounts payable and $3 million in interim payments to Citizens Medical Center. The court also approved a school-sheriff memorandum of understanding, juvenile detention contracts with six counties, and budget amendments.
Inez gateway monument
The court approved Resolution No. 2026-081, authorizing the county judge to enter into a Gateway Monument Agreement with TxDOT for construction, installation, and maintenance of the monument in Inez. The item was presented by Eagle Scout Michael Bargenbrook.
Payments and contracts
The court approved accounts payable totaling $1,643,509.59, including regular and supplemental amounts. It also approved interim vendor payments to Citizens Medical Center totaling $3,034,435.23.
The court approved a 2026-2027 memorandum of understanding between Bloomington ISD and the Victoria County Sheriff's Office. It also approved detention and residential contracts with Callahan, Coleman, Deaf Smith, Hale, Nueces, and Taylor counties for the Regional Juvenile Justice Center.
Personnel changes included the resignation of HR Director Giani Cantu and a payroll reallocation for a reserve constable. The court approved 2026 budget amendments for various county departments.
No action was taken on bond forfeiture releases, animal services opportunities, a Lynn Engineering payment, or discretionary budget amendments.
Budget workshops
The court held a special-term budget workshop Aug. 10–13. Minutes have not yet been published. The agenda included closed sessions on personnel, real property, economic development, and legal matters.
On Aug. 17, the court met to consider ordering the Nov. 3 general election and setting polling places; minutes are not yet published.
