Blanding Council Reviews Airport Rates, Rental Rules; Planning Commission Holds Fence Hearing
The Blanding City Council and Planning Commission met in August to discuss airport hangar rates, rental property requirements, vacant property fees, and proposed fence code updates. No decisions have been published; minutes for all three meetings are not yet available.
City Council (Aug. 11)
The City Council held a work session and regular meeting on August 11. According to the agenda, the council discussed:
- Landlord guarantor requirements for rental properties, continuing from a prior work session.
- A review of the airport hangar appraisal and hangar rates.
- Fee tiers for vacant properties.
- Approval of the consent agenda and minutes from the June 23, 2026 meeting.
- Monthly reports from City Manager Pratt Redd, Finance Director James Francom, and Police Chief JJ Bradford.
The council also considered entering closed session for legal, personnel, or real estate matters.
Planning Commission (Aug. 20)
The Planning Commission met on August 20 at 7:00 pm at the City Office (50 W. 100 S.). The agenda included:
- A public hearing on fence code updates.
- Work sessions on subdivision code updates and a manufactured home community application.
- Land use training by SERDA.
- Approval of the consent agenda and minutes from July 9, 2026.
A separate notice for the same date announced a public hearing on a proposed amendment to Blanding City Code Section 10.5A.9, which governs fences, walls, and retaining walls. The proposed changes may address location, height, materials, construction, maintenance, visibility, and general regulation of these structures. Written comments were accepted via email (bmuhlestein@blanding-ut.gov) or mail before 7:00 PM on August 13, 2026.
