Sevier County boards to weigh bike path bridges, tax abatements, land sale
Sevier County boards have a full slate of meetings this week, with the County Commission set to consider tax abatements, a bike path bridge contract, and a land sale. No decisions have been published yet from recent meetings, as minutes are pending.
County Commission (Aug. 10)
The commission met Aug. 10 with an agenda that included a Wi-Fi hotspot cooperative agreement with the Utah Department of Transportation, an engineering assignment order for the Monroe to Central Valley bike path feasibility design, recommendations on tax abatement applications, a request to purchase county-owned parcels 3-192F-41 and 3-192F-42, and Tourism Advisory Board recommendations. The agenda also included routine items such as meeting minutes, a payment approval report, and surplus property requests.
Planning and Zoning Commission (Aug. 12)
The Planning and Zoning Commission met Aug. 12 to review a minor subdivision amendment for Charlie Cluff to create an extra lot at 450 South Cougar Ridge Lane. The commission also considered amending the County General Plan and Transportation Master Plan by disclaiming Class D roads and set a time and date for a public hearing on that amendment. Economic Development Advisory Board (Aug. 17)
The Economic Development Advisory Board met Aug. 17 at 250 North Main Street, Richfield, to set its remaining 2026 meeting schedule, review the FY2026 program, and consider project options for the FY2027 Rural County Grant. The meeting was open to the public.
County Commission worksession (Aug. 17)
The commission held a worksession Aug. 17 to discuss four items: a possible letter of support and county participation in an ORI grant application by a local committee, an update from Rocky Mountain Power on projects, a proposal to replace the Blackhawk sound system, and a Monroe waste ditch for EWP including long-term maintenance and operations. No formal decisions were listed; these were discussion items.

The commission meets today, Aug. 24, with an agenda that includes ratifying the bid opening decision for construction of bridges on the Salina to Aurora Bike Path, action on tax abatement recommendations, action on a predation management agreement with the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, action on assessor adjustment recommendations, and action on the Cluff minor subdivision amendment.
