Herriman Council adopts zoning change; tax hearings, bond refunding ahead
The Herriman City Council approved a zoning change for 2.67 acres on Herriman Boulevard at its Aug. 11 meeting, the only decided item in the past two weeks with published results. The council also held public hearings on proposed property tax increases for the Safety Enforcement Area and Fire Service Area, and the Planning Commission reviewed several subdivision and development proposals. Zoning change adopted
The council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-15, amending the zoning map for 2.67 acres at 5222 W Herriman Boulevard from C-1 Neighborhood Commercial to CF Commercial Flex. The change was approved at the Aug. 11 meeting, according to a public notice. No other details on the vote were provided.
Property tax hearings held
The city held two truth-in-taxation hearings on Aug. 12. The Safety Enforcement Area proposed a 4.76% increase in property tax revenue above last year's budgeted amount. If approved, a $652,000 residence would see its annual tax rise from $510.29 to $534.67, and a $652,000 business from $927.80 to $972.13. The increase would generate an additional $512,970 in annual revenue. The Fire Service Area proposed a 2.23% increase, raising a $652,000 residence from $478.37 to $489.13 and a $652,000 business from $869.77 to $889.33, for an additional $205,560 in annual revenue. Both hearings were held at City Hall, and no decisions have been published.
Planning Commission reviews subdivisions and development
At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Planning Commission reviewed a proposed Master Development Agreement for Black Clover Holdings to build a light manufacturing and fulfillment center on about 7.42 acres at 5200 W Herriman Boulevard. The commission also considered preliminary plats for a 5-lot subdivision at 12650 S 6000 West, a 10-lot subdivision at 6515 W Rose Canyon Road, and a renewal for the 68-lot Laguna Pointe subdivision at 14860 S Juniper Crest Road. A zoning map amendment for property at 13727 S 7300 West Street, from A-1-43 to A-1-10, was also on the agenda, along with a proposed code amendment for residential lots between 5,000 and 10,000 square feet. No actions were reported.
Other items
The Youth Council held a two-day retreat on Aug. 21 to plan its year, including a vote on the year's theme and training on a legacy project. No decisions were reported.
