School Committee eyes override exploration

On June 24, the School Committee listed a vote to authorize an override exploratory process. The committee also planned to hear budget updates for fiscal year 2027, review new state graduation standards, discuss before- and after-school program changes, and begin a first reading of an updated physical restraint policy. Water quality and infrastructure

Two Water Commission meetings were scheduled. On June 25, commissioners were to discuss a proposal for a new treatment plant pilot study, along with updates on TTHM levels, a limnology study, the lagoon project, and the 3A project. On July 1, the commission met in executive session to discuss real estate matters related to Linden Ponds. Details of any actions remain confidential.

Solar and energy developments

The Alternative Energy Sources Committee met twice. The June 23 session focused on leasing Deer Hill and Osgood school roofs for solar arrays. A subcommittee met June 25 to receive an evaluation committee update on the same project. Upcoming, the full committee on July 9 will discuss dissolving the subcommittee now that the evaluation phase appears to be concluding. That meeting will also cover charging station usage and revenue, a climate grant, and a National Grid substation update.

Conservation and land use

Multiple Conservation Commission hearings on June 25 addressed wetland impacts from projects across town: pier installations at 70 and 74 Black Horse Lane, a garage rebuild at 76 Beach St., a bath house rebuild on Lothrop Lane, and a wireless tower upgrade at Wheelwright Park. Enforcement actions included a show cause order for unauthorized fill at 25 Tad Lane. Only agendas were posted; decisions will appear in future minutes.

Budgets, appointments, and routine business

The Select Board on June 30 had planned votes on the FY2027/2028 budget and Town Meeting planning calendar, board appointments, one-day liquor licenses, and a hours change for Split Rock Social. The Board of Assessors met June 22 to sign the FY 2027 preliminary real estate and personal property warrants and reorganize. The South Shore Recycling Cooperative was to vote on its FY27 budget and elect four board members.
