Town and Country board weighs group home, pickleball project, drone show

The Town and Country Board of Aldermen met Aug. 10 to consider a conditional use permit for a group home, a design-build agreement for a pickleball and bike playground, and a drone show for the Fire & Ice event. Board of Aldermen (Aug. 10)

The board also approved minutes from its July 6 meeting. No major decisions or contracts were on the agenda.

Police, Fire & EMS Commission (Aug. 4)

The commission reviewed reports from aldermen and fire/EMS and police chiefs. The only action item was a discussion of the Firearms Acquisition Project. The agenda also included:

• Awards presented to Officers Besore, Wolfe, Prewitt, and Sergeant Sapienza
• Introduction of new Officer Kennon

• **Parks & Trails Commission** – Aug. 17 (today): Review of 2026 project updates, including the Longview parking lot and Preservation Park pickleball/bike playground, plus discussion of a 20-year plan covering Drace park improvements, recycling, invasive species, and a community garden.
• **Planning & Zoning Commission** – Aug. 19: Zoning text amendment to definitions and conditional uses in the Estate/Suburban Estate district, and a conditional use permit for a historic house museum (Pappas House) at 865 Masonridge Road.

Parks projects advance; e-bike rule considered; ARB to review three home plans

Work on the Longview parking lot began June 22, and the Town Square concrete slab replacement moved forward with quotes requested, according to the agenda for the Parks & Trails Commission meeting. The Police, Fire & EMS Commission the same evening took up a proposed amendment to the town’s e-bike ordinance. No minutes from either meeting have been published yet, so final outcomes are not available.

Parks & Trails Commission – June 22

The commission reviewed several ongoing projects. The Longview parking lot work started on the meeting date. For the Town Square, staff were directed to obtain quotes for concrete slab replacement. The group also discussed rescheduling a concert to September 10 and volunteer needs for an America 250 event scheduled for July 1 at Drace Park. A logo design for the 20th anniversary Turkey Trot was also on the agenda.

Police, Fire & EMS Commission – June 22

The commission considered an amendment to the town’s e-bike ordinance as an action item. The meeting also included reports from the West County Fire and EMS chief and the police chief, who introduced two new officers: Officer Kaufmann and Officer Kerr. The commission approved the minutes from its April 21 meeting.

Because the minutes from this meeting have not yet been released, it is not known whether the e-bike amendment was approved.

Coming up

Architectural Review Board – July 6 – The board will review applications for three new single-family houses. Old business: 12327 Wildlife Trail. New business: 718 Elk Grove and 318 Pebble Valley. The meeting also includes approval of prior minutes.
