The Public Safety Committee on Aug. 18 considered a related resolution for a new multi-generational area at Spring River Zoo, Roswell Adult Center, and Peppermint Park. The committee also heard reports: Emergency Management reported 2,178 FEMA Individual Assistance applications approved totaling $22,950,607.43; Consolidated Dispatch reported ongoing CAD issues and computer failures with dispatch center relocation pending; Community Development reported 780 notices mailed, 130 business licenses issued, and $45,055.50 in building permit fees collected; and the Fire Department reported staffing gaps with 9 firefighters and 6 engineers open.

Airport and other boards

The Airport Advisory Commission met Aug. 18 and received a $2 million Rural Air Service Enhancement (RASE) grant for 2026, along with project updates on lighting, taxiways, terminal restrooms, and flood damage repairs. The commission also reviewed draft rules and regulations and minimum standards.

The Roswell Museum Board of Trustees met Aug. 17 to consider three art donations — including 3 Beverley Magennis sculptures and 14 Ted Kuykendall photographs from Judy Booth — and deaccessioning several flood-damaged works, including Koi Neng Liew's 'Rabbitlady' (2009) and Doris Cross's 'Bodement Body'. The board also discussed an external loan program during the museum's closure.

The Flood Recovery Task Force met Aug. 19 to discuss CDBG-DR infrastructure projects, financial plan updates, and map updates. The Parks & Recreation Commission met Aug. 19 to approve minutes from May and July, and the Cemetery Board canceled its Aug. 18 meeting, rescheduling to Sept. 15.
