Rockland officials to weigh land takings, water capacity, and school budgets

The Rockland Housing Authority met Aug. 12 and had on its agenda a vote to approve the lowest bidder for the Studley Court paving project, contingent on state approval. The authority also considered changes to its Section 8 Administrative Plan. No vote results have been published.

Schools and education

The Rockland School Committee meets Aug. 24 to discuss closing FY26 and opening FY27, and to consider adopting the high school student handbook, Mass Association policies, seclusion and restraint procedures, and new fundraisers.

The South Shore Regional Vocational School Committee met Aug. 19 to vote on the superintendent's evaluation and a second reading of the admissions policy. The Building Committee approved monthly invoices for LeftField, ORA, Suffolk, and UTS.

Other boards

The Board of Health meets Aug. 24 to discuss kratom and tobacco inspection updates, municipal rodenticide use, abatements, and a possible vote on the Dumpster Permit fee.

The Conservation Commission reviewed five projects under the Wetlands Protection Act at its Aug. 11 meeting, including a public hearing on rules and regulations under the local bylaw.

The Park Department met Aug. 19 to discuss the Bicentennial Track Project, a Spring Street fence, a proposal from an advertisement board company, and turf field use.

South Shore Recycling Cooperative

The SSRC board met Aug. 5. The agenda included votes on an executive director salary adjustment and amended FY27 budget, a Clean Harbors FY28 contract extension, and changes to HHW resident copayments and non-resident admission costs. Kevin McHugh from Coneco Engineers spoke about the HHW Depot. A special board meeting is scheduled for Aug. 19 to discuss the future of the HHW Depot.

Housing Authority

The Rockland Housing Authority met Aug. 12.
