The Planning Board on June 24 continued a public hearing for a special permit and site plan from New England F.C. to construct two full-size and one half-size synthetic turf soccer fields, along with lighting, a 24-foot driveway, and 245 parking spaces at 283 Gilbert Street in a Residential 1 zone. No decision was issued.

Also at that meeting, the board placed two Approval Not Required plan endorsements on the agenda: a lot line adjustment at 34 Cobbler Road and 211 Willow Street with no new lots, and adjustments at 112–114 and 122 School Street to address cemetery encroachments. Members continued discussions on several zoning bylaw amendments, including accessory dwelling unit setbacks, B4 district changes, floodplain regulations, inclusionary zoning incentives, the North Main Street Overlay District permitting process, and scenic road bylaw revisions.

250th Celebration Committee

On June 30, the 250th Celebration Committee reviewed remaining anniversary funds and discussed placement of a time capsule intended for the year 2075. The committee also considered approval of minutes from its December 29, 2025, meeting. A previously noticed June 24 activity was described only as a procedural announcement, with no agenda items listed.

Non-Profit Gift Fund

The July 1 Non-Profit Gift Fund meeting contained no actionable items beyond standard procedural notices.

Coming up

The Planning Board meets July 8. A continued public hearing for a site plan modification to add a 7,250-square-foot manufacturing building at 87 Central Street and 30 Winthrop Street has been postponed to July 22 at the applicant’s request. The board will continue zoning bylaw work on ADU setbacks, 55-plus residential facilities, B4 district commercial and multifamily uses, North Main Street Overlay District clarification, floodplain definitions, and planning fees.

Also July 8, the Select Board holds a workshop to review the Master Plan and identify priorities and goals for Fiscal Year 2027.

On July 15, the School Committee will attend a Select Board meeting to discuss the appointment of Saravanan Karuppusamy to the Audit Committee.
