City Council reviews budget, utility levy; several boards cancel sessions

The Malibu City Council met on June 22 to review the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget, consider a special tax for a Carbon Beach utility undergrounding project, and weigh a moratorium on wireless equipment, though official minutes detailing decisions are not yet available. Meanwhile, four other city panels canceled their meetings, including the Arts Commission, Environmental Review Board, Wastewater Advisory Committee, Public Safety Commission, and Youth Commission.

City Council

Agenda items included the FY 2026-27 budget and general fund grants; a levy of a special tax for Community Facilities District No. 2006-1 to finance the Carbon Beach utility undergrounding project; a proposed wireless equipment moratorium and review of state and federal law; amendments to professional services agreements with Clanton Engineering, Rincon Consultants, and Yeh and Associates; and extensions of local emergency declarations for Pacific Coast Highway conditions and the Palisades Fire. Public Works Commission
