Kent County boards weigh materials plan, $735K building invoices, and fire equipment

County Building Authority approves $609,134 asbestos abatement change order

The Kent County Building Authority approved a $609,134.74 change order to Erhardt Construction for additional asbestos abatement costs at its July 8 meeting, the largest financial action taken by a county body over the past two weeks.

County Building Authority — July 8

The Authority met on July 8, 2026, and took several financial actions related to ongoing construction projects.

Members approved Erhardt Construction Change Order No. 1 for $609,134.74 to cover additional asbestos abatement costs. The vote carried with one member opposed.

The Authority also approved Erhardt Construction Pay Application No. 4 for $266,427.98, unanimously. A separate invoice from Progressive Companies (Invoice No. 209948) for $168,963.96 was also approved unanimously.

Members authorized Fishbeck to perform an environmental site assessment at 1401 Cedar Street. That motion carried.
