The City Council agenda listed a vote on a grant application for $1,980,000 for three Highway Safety Improvement Program projects, and acceptance of a $365,635.43 Federal Grant for Hanford Fire Department protective equipment.

Also listed for action were the purchase of a used Jet Fuel tanker truck for Hanford Municipal Airport for $191,440.13, a Professional Services Agreement with A&M Consulting Engineers, Inc. not to exceed $360,000, and a prezone request for property south of Lacey Boulevard to Low-Density and Medium-Density Residential.

The same agenda listed discussion of updates to Hidden Valley Park and amendments to the municipal code regarding the water service system.

Planning Commission, Oct. 13: 10 units on E. Hanford Armona Rd.

The Planning Commission was scheduled to hold a public hearing on Planned Unit Development No. 0056-25, a request by Kings Rehabilitation Center to blend zone districts for a project to construct five duplexes — 10 units — at 490 E. Hanford Armona Rd. The commission was also scheduled to consider approving minutes from its Sept. 22, 2026 meeting.

Parks and Recreation Commission, Oct. 12: updates only

The Parks and Recreation Commission agenda listed division updates covering the sports complex, marketing and sponsorship, programming, events and manager, and parks and director. No specific decisions or legislative actions were listed on that agenda.

How to read these items

An agenda item is a scheduled matter, not a result. A grant application is not an award, an agreement "not to exceed" a figure is a spending ceiling rather than a payment, and a prezone request is a land-use step rather than an approved project. The official agenda and, once published, the minutes for each meeting are the authoritative record of what the bodies did.

Hanford agendas: $3.5M in fire apparatus, 74-lot subdivision, 10-unit duplex project — but no minutes yet

Three Hanford public bodies were scheduled to meet in the past two weeks, and the agendas list decisions on fire apparatus, a 74-lot subdivision and a 10-unit housing project. Minutes for all three meetings have not been published, so the records supplied here do not show what was actually decided, tabled or rejected. What follows is what was on the agendas.

City Council, Oct. 6: fire trucks and a 74-lot subdivision

The council's agenda scheduled a study session and closed session at 4:00 PM and a regular meeting at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers at 400 N. Douty St.

The largest dollar items sat on the consent calendar: an Impel 1500 GPM PUC Pumper Fire Engine for $1,166,196.91 and a 105' Velocity PUC Quint Aerial Fire Ladder Truck for $2,319,034.05, both from Measure H Capital Funds. Together the two purchases come to just under $3.5 million.

A public hearing was set on Annexation 167, covering about 16.65 acres south of Lacey Boulevard, west of 12 ½ Avenue (Aquifer Drive). The item included prezoning for R-L-5 and R-M and a tentative subdivision map for 74 single-family lots using small lot provisions below 5,000 square feet.

Other consent items included a three-year contract with Routeware Inc for solid waste route management software at $428,717.78 from the Refuse Capital Fund, and a $129,890 bid to Nick Champi Enterprises for a chain-link fence at Hanford High School softball fields on 10th Avenue, with 50% ($64,945) reimbursed by Hanford Joint Union High School District.

Hanford City Council to review Measure H spending, data center rules

The Hanford City Council will hold a study session and regular meeting on Aug. 18 to review Measure H revenues and expenditures for fiscal year 2025-26, discuss land use regulations for data center facilities, and consider several consent items, including an environmental site assessment and a final subdivision map. The Parks and Recreation Commission and Planning Commission also met earlier in the week with agenda items on a zipline, a water feature, and a zoning amendment. All items are from agendas; minutes have not yet been published, so no decisions are confirmed.

City Council (Aug. 18)

The council will hold a study session to review Measure H revenues and expenditures for FY 2025-26, including departmental presentations. In regular session, members will discuss land use regulations and city authority for data center facilities, and review landscape and lighting district maintenance practices.

The consent calendar includes:

• Approval of a $62,595 environmental site assessment for Alanis Trust parcels (APNs 012-045-006, 012-045-007).
• Adoption of Ordinance 26-04 amending Prezone 0013-24 for 80.95 acres of R-M (residential) and 5.45 acres of MX-N (mixed-use) near Grangeville Blvd and 9 1/4 Ave.
• Recording the final map for Tract 881-3 Live Oak East (Hidden Oaks Unit No. 3), a 128-lot subdivision at Hume Ave and 12th Ave.

Closed session items cover anticipated and existing litigation and property negotiations.

Parks and Recreation Commission (Aug. 10)

The commission will consider two public works items: reinstalling a zipline playground amenity at Lacey and Coe Parks, and removing the Lacey Water Feature (Big Green Mushroom). The agenda also includes routine consent items, division updates on sports, parks, marketing, events, and programs, and public comment.

Planning Commission (Aug. 11)

The commission will hold a public hearing on Zone Text Amendment No. 0013-26, a proposed change to the city's zoning regulations. The agenda includes an appeal filing fee of $1,100.00 for final project decisions, along with consent calendar items, public comment, and commissioner reports. The meeting is scheduled at Council Chambers, 400 N. Douty St., with a live stream available.

Hanford City Council scheduled to weigh eminent domain, vehicle and infrastructure purchases

The Hanford City Council's July 21 agenda included a resolution of necessity to acquire 203 E 7th Street by eminent domain, along with votes on equipment purchases totaling more than $960,000 and a road rehabilitation contract worth $295,747.50. Minutes from the meeting have not yet been published, so outcomes are not yet confirmed.

City Council — July 21

The Council was scheduled to hold public hearings on funding changes in the Quail Run Estates and Portofino Landscape and Lighting Maintenance Assessment Districts.

Agenda items also included:

• A Resolution of Necessity for acquisition of 203 E 7th Street by eminent domain.
• Purchase of a 2027 Front Load Refuse truck for $497,506.79.
• Purchase of two K9 patrol vehicles and five unmarked administration vehicles for $467,019.85.
• A contract for road rehabilitation on 10th Avenue from Fargo Avenue to State Route 43 for $295,747.50.

Because minutes are not yet available, it is not confirmed which items were approved, modified, or continued.

Planning Commission — July 14

The Planning Commission was scheduled to discuss a finding of General Plan consistency for the acquisition of a future elementary school site. The 16.44-acre (gross) site is located north of Fargo Avenue and east of 12th Avenue and is intended for use by the Pioneer Union Elementary School District. Minutes from this meeting have not yet been published.

Parks and Recreation Commission — July 13

The Parks and Recreation Commission agenda included routine consent-calendar items and division updates covering the sports complex, parks, marketing and sponsorship, programs, directors, and recreation events.

The Commission was also scheduled to discuss a Public Works recommendation on weekly maintenance closure periods for off-leash community dog parks. No other specific decisions were listed on the agenda. Minutes have not yet been published.

The Commission will hold a public hearing on Amended Annexation 165 and Prezone No. 0013-24, which proposes to annex approximately 86.4 acres into Hanford city limits from Kings County. The area, located north of Grangeville Boulevard and east of 9 ¼ Avenue, would be prezoned as Medium-Density Residential (80.95 acres) and Neighborhood Mixed Use (5.45 acres).
