Greene County roundup: No decisions finalized, supervisors to weigh farm winery zoning
No decisions were finalized in Greene County government meetings over the past two weeks. All three recent meetings were agenda-only, with minutes not yet published. The most consequential item ahead is a Board of Supervisors workshop on Aug. 25 to consider zoning amendments for farm wineries, breweries, and distilleries.

Planning Commission (Aug. 10)
The Greene County Planning Commission held a public meeting and site visit with the Board of Supervisors to review aerial, zoning, and future land use maps for Stanardsville. The session was part of a joint effort to update the town's future land use maps.
Board of Supervisors (Aug. 11)
The Board of Supervisors met in closed session for legal matters and then considered several resolutions to accept and appropriate funds. These included:
- $28,934.37 in opioid settlement payments and insurance claims for fiscal year 2026-2027.
- $30,561.50 in donations and fines/fees for various departments in FY 2026.
- $249,233.98 in grants and other revenue received in FY 2026.
- $4,652.50 in donations and fines/fees for FY 2027.
The board also discussed proposed changes to its bylaws for the remainder of calendar year 2026.
Agricultural and Forestal District Committee (Aug. 17)
The committee reviewed updates to the county's comprehensive plan and discussed opportunities for public input. Members also examined current subdivision regulations affecting rural and agricultural properties, and discussed the annual Landowner Education Program.

Board of Supervisors workshop (Aug. 25)
The board will hold a workshop to discuss amendments to Articles 22 and 16 of the Zoning Ordinance regarding farm wineries, farm breweries, limited distilleries, and events at agricultural operations. The agenda also includes:
- An update on the county-wide flood resilience plan.
- A budget supplemental appropriation for the Child Services Act.
- A resolution to apply for the Fall 2026 Rescue Squad Assistance Fund grant.
- Confirmation of additional bonuses for Compensation Board funded positions.
