Boerne City Council to Consider FY2027 Budget, Tax Rate on First Reading

The most consequential item on the horizon is the City Council's first reading of the FY2027 budget and a proposed property tax rate of 47.90 cents per $100 of taxable value, scheduled for August 25.
City Council to take up budget, tax rate, and utility fees
The Boerne City Council will meet on Tuesday, August 25, at 6:00 PM to consider, on first reading, several ordinances and resolutions. These include:
- **Ordinance No. 2026-05** – Adopts the FY2027 annual budget.
- **Ordinance No. 2026-06** — Sets the 2026 ad valorem tax rate at 47.90 cents per $100 of taxable value.
- **Ordinance No. 2026-08** — Repeals and replaces the city fee schedule, including new rates for water, wastewater, and reclaimed water.
- **Resolution No. 2026-R45** — Authorizes change order no. 8 for the Adler Road low water crossing improvements, not to exceed $74,221.
- **Resolution No. 2026-R46** — Authorizes the purchase of 0.2697 acres in the Heffner Addition, specifically Lot 9 and part of Lot 11.

Zoning board to hear carport variance request
The Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 19, at 5:30 PM to consider Variance No. 26-12. Jason and Michelle Diianni request permission for an attached carport to encroach 21.3 feet into the required 25-foot front garage yard setback at 113 Hughs Street. The board will also approve minutes from its May 20, 2026 meeting and take public comments.
Notice of possible quorum at economic summit
On August 14, the city posted a notice that a quorum of the City Council may attend the 4th Annual Kendall County Economic Summit, sponsored by the San Antonio Business Journal. The event is at The Bevy Hotel, 101 Herff Rd, Boerne, TX. No city business will be conducted, and no action will be taken.
