DPS board reviews construction, bond, mill levy items; upcoming meetings set
The Denver Public Schools Board of Education held several meetings in the past two weeks, covering construction projects, a bond refunding, a mill levy override resolution, and facility usage policy. Minutes have not yet been published, so no decisions are confirmed. The board also has two meetings scheduled in the coming week, including a regular meeting on Aug. 27.
Finance and Audit Committee (Aug. 10)
The Finance and Audit Committee met to review items for the full board's consent agenda. The agenda included more than 20 construction projects, such as DSST Montview, FNE Campus 29-Gateway E-5, and Palmer Boilers. The committee also discussed a bond refunding recommendation for August 2026, new grant awards over $50,000 for May and June 2026, and board purchases ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for June FY26 and July FY27. Property taxes and the December 2026 mill levy certification were also on the agenda. All items were informational for the committee and were to be forwarded to the full board for action.
Work Session and Special Meeting (Aug. 13)
The board held a work session and public comment meeting on Aug. 13. The agenda included a policy review of EL20 Facility Usage and a board self-assessment. Public comment was divided into two sections: one for upcoming action items and one for unrestricted topics.
Later that day, the board held a special meeting with a vote on a Mill Levy Override Resolution and a discussion of outside legal counsel. The agenda was brief and focused on these two items.
Board Retreat (Aug. 17)
The board held a retreat at the PPA Event Center. The agenda contained only a placeholder item ("More to Come") and no specific topics, decisions, or discussions were listed.
