Advisory commissions review fees, budgets, and proclamations; no decisions published yet
In the past two weeks, three Mountlake Terrace advisory commissions met to review fees, budgets, and potential proclamations. Because meeting minutes have not yet been published, no official decisions are available to report. The following is a summary of the agenda items discussed.
Recreation and Park Advisory Commission (Aug. 11)
The commission reviewed recreation fees, the shelter reservation policy, and plaza name submissions. It also discussed the 2026 work plan, received updates from the Tree Board and on park projects, and heard a department status report. Public comment was accepted in writing or by phone.
Arts Advisory Commission (Aug. 18)
The commission discussed an art donation policy and the 2026 Arts of the Terrace program. It also met with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commissioners Priya May-Folden and Felicia Keeton-Howard and Community Ambassador Sophia Englmaier. The agenda included approval of the July 21 meeting minutes.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission (Aug. 19)
The commission reviewed the actual and planned budget for the DEI program. The agenda included a vote to recommend two proclamations to the City Council: one for National Voter Registration Day (Sept. 15) with the League of Women Voters as recipient, and one for Every Child Matters Day (Sept. 30) with the MT High School Indigenous Student Union as recipient. Staff presented updates on community engagement events, including a Constitution Reading (Sept. 19) and Hispanic Heritage Month Loteria (Sept. 26). The commission also discussed collaboration with the Arts Advisory Commission.
