Lamar City Council to consider tax rate, budget amendments; committee agendas posted

Lamar city committees met last week on parks, utilities, recreation, airport, and ordinances, but no minutes have been published yet. The Board of Aldermen meets today, Aug. 17, to consider the 2026 property tax rate and several budget amendments.

Park Board

The Park Board met Aug. 3 to review reports from landscaping and equipment committees. City Council meeting today

The Lamar Board of Aldermen meets today, Aug. 17, with a public hearing on the annual city property tax rate. The council will consider Council Bill No. 1978, an ordinance levying the 2026 annual tax for general city purposes, and Council Bill No. 1979, an ordinance establishing a conflict-of-interest disclosure procedure. Resolutions 546 through 549 would amend the 2026-2027 budget for park, electric, water, and general funds, and appoint Mayor Hull to sign waste agreements with Republic Services. The agenda also includes a Mayo Lift Station bid tab and an ARPA account review.

Lamar committee sets safety protocols for fly-in event; Board of Aldermen to weigh water fund budget this week
