Herington commission to consider $67,380 breaker bid, pipeline deals July 7
Herington city leaders are set to take up more than $67,000 in equipment spending and several pipeline agreements next week, after a closed-door discussion on the city manager search last week produced no public announcement.
Recent meeting: City manager search discussed
The City Commission held a special meeting June 30 to discuss candidates for the vacant city manager position. The agenda included an executive session under the personnel exception followed by possible action on selecting a candidate. No public comment was allowed. As of July 5, minutes from the meeting have not yet been published, and no decision has been announced publicly.
Coming up July 7: Breaker bid, concrete work, pipeline deals
The commission will meet again at its regular session on Tuesday, July 7. Among the items scheduled for a vote:
- **$67,380 breaker purchase** – A bid from the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency (KMEA) for two 15kV breakers.
- **Concrete work at the water treatment plant** – A bid for concrete work for electrical pads near the plant.
- **Bills of sale for utility lines** – The commission will consider approving bills of sale for a sewer line and a water line.
- **Pipeline crossing agreements** – Three agreements are on the table: at Mile Post 171.50 (Herington), Mile Post 171.49 (Lost Springs), and Mile Post 171.63 (Herington).
The agenda also includes executive sessions for attorney consultation on contract negotiations and personnel matters. An update on the city manager search is scheduled during the meeting.
