Delafield roundup: Council approves Hobby Farm permits, artists advance in outdoor art project

The Delafield Common Council approved a temporary conditional use permit and alcohol licenses for The Hobby Farm agricultural business on July 20, 2026, marking the most consequential decision among recent city meetings. Staff were directed to pursue easements for a drainage ravine stabilization project along Lakewood Court. The council approved minutes from its June 15, 2026 meeting.

Promotion & Tourism Commission / Outdoor Art Committee — July 27

The Outdoor Art Committee selected Casto Solano, Mirek Struzik, and William Nemitoff to advance to Phase II of the outdoor arts project. Selected artists will be notified by August 15, 2026. The committee will update the Promotion and Tourism Commission on August 11, 2026. The consent agenda passed with all in favor, and the meeting adjourned at 10:10.

Meetings cancelled for lack of quorum — July 27

The Park & Recreation Commission and the Tree Board both cancelled their July 27 meetings because a quorum was not present. No decisions or discussions occurred at either.

Deer Management Committee — July 21

The committee heard a guest presentation by Chris Kelliher on the Town of Delafield Deer Management Program. Discussion items included current and future hunting locations, the use of sharp shooters for future deer management, scheduling of August field work, and appointing a member to partner with the Delafield Promotion and Tourism website. Minutes have not yet been published; these items were listed on the agenda.

Plan Commission — July 29 (agenda only)

The Plan Commission was scheduled to hold three public hearings: a conditional use amendment for Bubble's Foam Farm at N101 State Road 83 involving a chemical list and site plan changes; a zoning text amendment to define pergolas and unenclosed structures as open space; and an environmental corridor boundary text and map amendment to Section 52-107(7). Additional agenda items included a boathouse remodel at 1407 Milwaukee Street and permanent signage approval at 2675 Sun Valley Drive for Johnson Financial Group. Delafield Common Council approves Hobby Farm permit; Board of Review takes up Wal‑Mart property waiver

The Delafield Common Council approved a temporary conditional use permit and developer's agreement for The Hobby Farm agricultural business at its July 20 meeting, clearing the way for the operation to move forward. The council also granted several alcohol licenses and peddler permits while denying one beer license for a clothing boutique.

Delafield roundup: Art submissions under review; Board of Review takes up Wal-Mart waiver; Council set to act on street project change order

The only Delafield body to publish official minutes in the past two weeks was the Outdoor Art Committee, which approved its April 23, 2025 minutes and adjourned its July 9 session so members could further review more than 50 new art submissions. Each member will rank the submissions and send their top five choices to Jori Hartwig by July 17. Discussion of new business and recruitment strategies was postponed to the July 21, 2026 meeting.

Lake Welfare Committee — July 8

The committee met July 8 to consider a boathouse remodel application (DELC 0788.020) at 1407 Milwaukee Street. Additional agenda topics included the "Welcome to the Lake" program, wakesurfing recommendations, erosion and storm-runoff concerns on the east side of Nagawicka Lake, and aerator and no-wake rule matters.
