Churchill County boards weigh Rivian zone change, road funding, travel rates

Churchill County boards met over the past two weeks on land-use, road funding, and travel expenses. Minutes for these meetings have not yet been published, so no final decisions are confirmed. Planning Commission: Rivian zone change, subdivision maps

The Planning Commission met Aug. 12 with public hearings on several land-use applications. The commission considered a zone change (ZC26-2) for Rivian on Lovelock Highway (APN 004-431-44), from RR-20 to I-3. Also on the agenda:

• Final subdivision map PC26-10 for Sand Creek #2, Phase 1, creating 25 lots south of Casey Road (APNs 008-792-11, 008-792-95).
• Home business permit SUP26-17 for Dana & Barbara Hutchison for sewing/tailoring at 1300 Lattin Road (APN 010-581-27).
• Parcel map PC26-9 by JDLN Enterprises to divide a lot at 9900 Carson Highway (APN 007-171-75).
• Consent agenda items to terminate SUP913 (mining), SUP727/SUP768 (dog daycare), and discontinue SUP25-15 (manufactured home dealership).

County Commission: travel rates, July financial reports

The Board of County Commissioners met Aug. 19 to consider adopting Resolution 13-2026, which would set travel expenses at 76 cents per mile and a per diem of $68.00 per day. The board also reviewed routine financial reports for July 2026:

• Public Works/Planning revenue: $221,167.66
• Building revenue: $33,635.91
• Sheriff's Civil Report: $3,545.00
• Recorder's Monthly Apportion Report: $17,466.80
• Assessor's Office job descriptions

Regional Transportation Commission: $600K in road funding

Also on Aug. 19, the Regional Transportation Commission considered two $300,000 transfers for road and bridge projects: one for FY 2026's fourth quarter and one for FY 2027's first quarter. The agenda also included approval of minutes from June 17, 2026, and the August Treasurer's Report.

• **Social Services Advisory Committee** (Aug. 10): Reviewed the Community Action Plan, a conflict of interest for a member named Kathy, and minutes from June 4, 2026.

County Commission considers road project, grants

The Board of County Commissioners met Aug. 6 and had on its agenda:

• Award of a $310,000 parking lot construction contract (PWP-CH-2026-315) to A&K Earthmovers.
• A $20,200 grant to the Churchill County School District for youth mental health programs.

Senior citizens coalition to vote on reimbursements

The Coalition for Senior Citizens held a special meeting Aug. 4. The agenda included:

• Reimbursement to Karla Kent for $65.29 in root beer float event purchases.
