Penn Finance Committee Approves $2.5M for Linton Middle School Repairs

The Penn-Harrisburg School District's finance committee approved a $2.5 million transfer from the General Fund to the Capital Account for repairs and upgrades at Linton Middle School. Penn-Harrisburg board to weigh $5M Linton grant, staff hires, and tech purchases

The Penn-Harrisburg School District board and its committees met Aug. 5 to consider a range of items, including a $5 million state grant application for Linton Middle School renovations, the hiring of more than 20 staff members, and several software and equipment purchases. • Pittsburgh Mercy school-based outpatient services: $5,312.50 per month

Discussion items include the AHN Chill Mobile at Linton and the use of IDEA funding for early intervention services.

Safety, Buildings & Grounds

The Safety, Buildings & Grounds Committee will consider several technology and building contracts:

• Ratification of $639,264.97 for Aruba switches for all three buildings, with most cost refunded through E-Rate
• Renewal of Xello software for $9,146
• Ratification of $33,513.20 for the Canvas learning platform through Instructure
• Ratification of $47,455.00 for FASTSIGNS mesh fence windscreen, door/window coverings, and vinyl wall covering

The committee will also discuss a new PSFIG grant application for up to $5 million to fund roof repairs, HVAC units, and asbestos abatement at Linton Middle School.

Athletic Advisory Committee

The Athletic Advisory Committee will vote on 2026-27 fall coaching stipends, including Daniel Mason as Interim Head Football Coach ($9,518.81) and Robert Cash as Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach ($7,969.23). The committee will also discuss new Penn Hills Athletic logo options (feather, star, spear, Phamily), a new Honest Game program to track NCAA core course eligibility, and facility projects such as projector installations, volleyball padding, and wrestling space.
