Select Board warrant for bridge project

The Select Board met on June 24 to approve the warrant for a July 13 special town meeting. The warrant asks voters to authorize the board to acquire permanent and temporary easements along Nonacoicus Brook for the West Main Street Bridge Project, and to grant a billboard easement on a town-owned parcel (Assessor’s Map 26-31). The board also went into executive session to negotiate the purchase or lease of a Sullivan Investment Trust property on West Main Street. Results of these actions are not yet public.

Other recent business

The Ayer Planning Board’s June 23 meeting was cancelled; its next session is set for July 14. The Conservation Commission on June 25 held a continued public hearing on a roadway extension and stormwater system at Orion Park Drive (Sawyer May, LLC) and reviewed a request for vegetation clearing at 50 Deer Run. The Board of Assessors on July 1 was to approve motor vehicle abatement reports and preliminarily commit real estate, personal property, and Community Preservation Act tax bills for the first two quarters of the fiscal year. The Senior Center Site Selection Building Committee on June 24 discussed permitting, grants, and design costs, and was set to vote on a vendor invoice packet.

Coming up

The Historical Commission meets July 7 to discuss Woodlawn Cemetery Cannon Preservation, an oral history project, and Newton Street Festival planning. On July 14, the Council on Aging Board will review recommendations from a national senior center assessment and elect 2027 officers.
