Alpine boards review budget, grants, and music plans; no decisions published yet

Alpine city boards and committees met over the past two weeks to review the 2026 budget, consider grant adjustments, and plan a music showcase. City Council budget workshop

The Alpine City Council held a workshop on August 4 to review revenues, expenses, and set priorities for the 2026 budget. The agenda included public hearings, proclamations, and reports from the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department, presented by Chief James Etchison, and from PetSmart Charities on its Adoption Partnership.

Action items on the agenda were:

Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee

The Hotel Occupancy Tax Committee met on August 5 to discuss adjusting grant recommendations to align with available funds in the 2026-2027 budget. The committee considered a proposed $26,500 reduction in HOT Grant recommendations. The agenda indicated the committee may approve amended recommendations for City Council consideration, but no outcome has been reported.

Music Advisory Board

The Music Advisory Board met on July 28 to discuss the Music Friendly Showcase scheduled for August 19 and a music industry directory. The board also considered other potential projects and approval of the April 28, 2026, regular meeting minutes. No decisions have been published.

The Alpine Parks & Recreation Board will meet on August 12. The agenda is routine, with no action items or public hearings listed. Alpine Council Set to Vote on Rezoning, Road Contract, and $100,000 Hotel Tax Allocation; Recent Meeting Minutes Still Pending

Alpine residents have several consequential items heading to the City Council on July 21, including a rezoning vote, a road-materials contract award, and a $100,000 allocation from the Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund. Minutes from three recent public meetings — City Council on July 7, Parks & Recreation on July 8, and Animal Advisory Board on July 14 — have not yet been published, so only the agendas as posted are available for those sessions.

City Council — July 7 (Agenda Only)

The Council's July 7 agenda included a workshop to review adoption of the City of Alpine Master Fee Schedule under Resolution 2026-06-13. Public hearings were scheduled on two items: the second and final reading of Ordinance 2026-06-05 regarding Enterprise Fund Financial Management, and the first reading of Ordinance 2026-07-01 to rezone 1301 W Ave J from R-2 to R-4. The agenda also listed approval of Special Use Permit 2026-07-01 for a short-term rental at 305 N. 1st St., and Resolution 2026-07-02 authorizing participation in a USDA Water Predevelopment Planning Grant.
